Album

L'École du Micro d'Argent The School of the Silver Mic is an album recorded by IAM. The band became famous worldwide with this album, a classic in French hip-hop music. It was partly recorded in the US, with some aesthetic influences brought by RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. On the track L'Enfer, a sample from Lalo Schifrin's music for Don Siegel's movie Dirty Harry can be heard the electric piano notes. L'école Du Micro D'argent. IAM - L'école Du Micro D'argent 2013. yes good quality for a pirate copy, not to trash :)
There will be the long awaited 3LP official reissue coming in December "L'école Du Micro D'argent (Réédition 2015)" by Warner. It'll have the original cover art.
vinyl-digital.com (excellent site by the way) has it up for pre-order right now at 32 euros. That is the only place I have managed to find any news regarding this reissue, which I find weird, but whatever. Either way, vinyldigital never disappoint. I'm not sure how many copies will be pressed, but I suggest you act fast because I think this will go flying off the shelves. The last bootlegs were complete garbage, but according to them this will be released by Warner, so if that's true you know we will be looking at a top quality release.
any source for this info ?
Do not buy this. It's NOT pressed accurate centrical, it's more an elipse.. very very bad for the needle.
If at all this doesn't account for all copies. The pressing of my copy is actually quite good.
The quality is actually pretty decent - unlike the discogs prices for the original 3lp. So better blame those sellers or IAM. My best regards to the bootleggers who ended my decade-long chase.
me too!
I've bought a copy because i wanted it since 10 years so i don't care if it's a pirate copy or anything else but i agree that the artwork sucks (and the lack of insert too) :-)And you can see on the "macaron" (sorry i don't know the english word for this) written in really small : "....Tous les droits sont réservés à des fins promotionnelles.NOT FOR SALE...."
I own the CD and the Book edition. For sure it sounds excellent, but as a vinyl collector since 20 years it´s not comparable with a vinyl. I can only hope that there comes an official re-release..
To all those who think they own this release so they own the LP album of IAM - L'Ecole Du Micro D'Argent...well...clearly, you don't !!What you own by buying this release, is a poor PIRATE reissue, probably remasterized from a CD source, and cheaply pressed slightly off-center in eastern europe (hence the 20€ price..) with the WORST artwork cover ever imitated !!!The cover is not a joke, that doesn't made me laugh, it's really scary..but you all made me laugh...Shame on you all sellers who distribute this piracy, and resellers who try to steal people by speculating on stolen properties at x2, x3, or x4 of the release price..!Shame on you all foolish buyers who bought, and will buy this junk release...just because vinyl is the new hype, you want to follow fashion..it's a really cultured behaviour..you only buy the next carrot in front of your eyes...To all those who says that they can't afford to buy an original copy, or that the sound quality of this release is excellent...well, I still have a 18 years old Original CD which sounds excellent, and there are many copies you can buy for 10€ !!I just hope that this wack pirate junk release will inspire the label which own the rights (not IAM, it was already told in interview..) and they will release an official and beautifull reissue for the 20 years anniversary of which everyone consider as THE fundamental album of French Rap (that we all know by heart, due to the thousands of listening which inspired us, growing up as a youth...).So all copies of this release can end where they belong...(in the garbage) .
Did you really read my comment before to ask me a totally dumb question with your stupid condescending tone..? I think you're mixing Discogs comment/review section with a youtube commentary .to quote my favorite french rapper : " si tu veux m'sortir une vanne tu ferais bien d'en trouver une bonne / c'est bien d'jouer les hommes / mais si t'étais une meuf, ben tu serais une conne! " (..nuff said)
hahahaha "THE fundamental album of French Rap"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WACK!!!!!!!Have you miss your only chance to buy this LP jahrise?
I understand you're right... But people who are buying bootlegs are not Hipsters and don't follow fashion stupid hype...I had in my hands the original US copy 2 days ago, records Mint- and sleeve VG... The guy asked 200 euros, after talking he was ok for 170 euros.. Good price maybe when we see on discogs 300 euros but it's a lot of money !Original is of course the best ! I have the CD since 10 years I am happy with it BUT when you found a bootleg like this, 3LP clear for 30 euros, it's ok... I buy vinyl records since forever, I am a huge collector and I have some bootlegs since years that still not release today and I am happy to listen them on vinyl. But pay 200 euros for one album used, seriously I prefer to pay 30 euros for a bootleg. 50 euros ? LOL NEVER ! but 30 it's ok... And a real IAM fan addict can want this bootleg just for his collection, clear vinyl it's nice.We are all waiting for a 20th anniversay edition, but this problem with american manager, us studio ect... I don't know but I hope. :-)
If this edition can inspire label or/& group to do an Official Anniversary Edition, it's done.
Exactly what I thought when I was looking at this... and no one cares about the 4xCD release they did.
The sound is okay on this release, however, my copy arrived with a pressing error: some sides aren't centered properly, and you can sometimes hear some sound parasites at the end. Anyway, it's a very good LP, but the official reissue is coming...
I think for a bootleg it´s ok. Not to compare with the original for sure. No Gatefold Cover etc. But I can live with that. Better than paying 300-500 Euro for a used original, that´s much too high for me.
Yeah Artwork is definitely a joke....
Yes Poor ArtworK...
Now the following comment is what I call bad review, completely misleading. To be honest I was sceptical when ordering this release but when I received the records I was pleasantly surprised. The sound quality as well as the pressing is excellent. It's true that the vinyls got some yellowish stains enclosed but that doesn't affect the sound or play of the record at all. It doesn't even look dirty as stated below because they're barely visible. Can't tell if the weight of the individual records fluctuates but that doesn't bias anything either.Don't get me wrong but what's the difference between mixing a 180g record containing a great looking cover compared to a 140g record that's housed in a whack looking cover? Why will I be disappointed when cutting wax that's not made out of 100% clear vinyl? Better beware of what you're talking about!Last but not least I have to admit that the cover artwork differs from the original artwork but I wouldn't care if this release would be housed in a plain white generic sleeve because it's the music that matters.Nice add on: Bonus Track that isn't available on the original release.Altogether this release is worth the money.
I'll translate your answer so that everybody can follow our little conversation. You must have forgotten about the guidelines to write only in English.Quote:"Read first then write...! I'm talking about the weight of the records, heavy pressings like 180g aren't suitable for cutting wax compared to lighter ones. Doesn't have anything to do with the lack of transparency"Well, I guess 99% of the customers will buy this release to listen to the music and will be pleased to hold some heavy pressed records in their hands. As I said before, the sound quality and the pressing itself is excellent. Everyone knows about these cheap thin and shimmy records most bootlegs were made of few years ago. Is that what you want? This release is an album, not any Dj scratch record. That's why I said before that your comment is misleading. You condemn this release because it doesn't match your personal purpose, that's all. It has nothing to do with the quality or sound of the record. Why should people be aware? There isn't any single good reason not to buy this album. You're disappointed because the clear wax got some almost invisible yellowish stains which make the records look dirty, now that's hilarious. I've bought more than one copy and none if it looks dirty. Several friends of mine bought this release, none complained about the dirty appearance because there isn't any. You're disappointed because YOU can't scratch with this record so OTHERS should not buy? That's absurd. People will listen to the music instead of destroying their album. I'm not offending you but go and get Serato if you're having issues scratching different formats. Don't blame this release, please.
erst lesen dann schreiben...!mir geht es um das gewicht, schwere platten wie zb.180gr. kann man halt nicht so gut cuttn wie ne leichte.dass die platte nicht 100% transparent ist, hat nix damit zu tun.
finally i have it ;)but i have to say that i'm pretty disappointed with this.but what do you expect else from a bootleg...first, its not 100% clear transparent it has some yellow sheen in it which make it look dirtysadly, the weight of the vinyl is about 180gr ,except the A/B side which has strangly only about 135/140gr(in this case i only can speak for my vinyl)so if you want the vinyl for just listening or having this in your collection, fine.but if you want to cut or mix with this vinyl you will be disappointed.at last the cover looks extremely wack compared to the original.(also the vinyl covers)what made them do this ???its an insult to this album.so beware of what you buy
my sugestion... pirates...
Really? why is it not sold in normal stores ? Who wins money with this pirate version?
It's legal reissue i think ... I dont know
yes that's why it's write "Unofficial Release" but i found it for 20€... official copy is from 200 to 500€ ! i love records and IAM but my bank have limit !
