Long After Dark is the fifth studio album by American rock band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, released November 2, 1982 on Backstreet Records. Notable for the MTV hit You Got Lucky, the album was also the band's first to feature Howie Epstein on bass and harmony vocals. Epstein's vocals are prevalent throughout the album and from that point on, became an integral part of the Heartbreakers' sound. On this their fifth album, it still feels as if Tom and The Heartbreakers are struggling to not only stay afloat, but to define themselves, where with their delivery of comfort food rock n roll, theyve still not found that worldwide embrace. I wasnt the only one to feel this way back in 1982, with Rolling Stone saying, No single thing about Long after Dark is startlingly great. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers: все альбомы, включая The Collaborations , Route 66 , Too Much Ain't Enough и другие. Since the Heartbreakers are a very good band, it means the record sounds pretty good as it's playing, but apart from those few highlights, nothing much is memorable once the album has finished. And coming on the heels of two excellent records, that's quite a disappointment. Track Listing. Formed in 1976, the band originally comprised Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Ron Blair, Stan Lynch, and Benmont Tench. In 1981, Blair, weary of the touring lifestyle, departed the band. His replacement, Howie Epstein, stayed with the band for the next two decades. In 1991, Scott Thurston joined the band as a multi-instrumentalist-mostly on rhythm guitar and second keyboards. In 1994, Steve Ferrone replaced Lynch on drums. Blair returned to the Heartbreakers in 2002, the year before Epstein's death. Mary Jane's Last Dance, The Last DJ, Learning To Fly и другие песни. Released in 1982, this is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' fifth studio album. Produced by Jimmy Iovine, who forced it in another musical direction than what Petty himself felt to be fit at the time. Iovine wanted to get back to the Damn the Torpedoes 1979 formula, which meant more rough rocking songs, while Petty was into a more acoustic mood after the Hard Promises 1981 album. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers - Long After Dark Full Album . Long After Dark. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers bassist Ron Blair quit the band after their tour in support of 1981's Hard Promises. It was the first defection from the original group. Petty quickly replaced him with Howie Epstein, a bassist in Del Shannon's backing band with an incredible singing voice. Long After Dark is the last Petty album exclusively produced by Jimmy Iovine, and it marked the end of the singer's early period. He took a three-year break after it came out, and when he returned in 1985, he had a pretty new sound. Exclusive discount for Prime members. Sample this album Artist Sample.
