Album

American Thighs is the debut studio album by American alternative rock band Veruca Salt. It was originally released through Minty Fresh on September 27, 1994. The title is a reference to a line from the ACDC song You Shook Me All Night Long. Nick Kelly of Hot Press said, Given that this is their first record, you cant help asking yourself how a band so young can. Veruca Salt. American Thighs. What Veruca Salt has instead is a raw talent for simple, infectious pop songs the result is a surprisingly fresh fusion of alternative pop and bubblegum. Nina Gordon and Louise Post try hard to inject meaning into the sweet, distorted rush of Seether, but all that sticks is the infectious melody and crushing guitars. That also applies to the slower songs, from the enchanting lust of Spiderman '79 to Forsythia, which is too close to the Breeders' Pod for comfort. The Nineties never sounded better than when Veruca Salts American Thighs was blasting at maximum volume. Alongside Nirvanas Nevermind, The Breeders Last Splash and Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream, the record stands. Anyone know why this one is easy to find/affordable but 8 arms is super rare and expensive?
Probably because this was pressed in way more vinyl copies than the follow up. By the late 90's vinyl sales was at an all time low, so albums from mid to late 90's are really expensive. Take PJ Harvey as another example. To Bring You My Love is relatively affordable, while Is This Desire? and Stories From The City are crazy expensive now.
